Nakatamaakewin Outreach Project Lead
Reporting to the Head of Learning & Programs, this position is responsible to coordinate with the effective delivery of active learning programs around the Nakatamaakewin mobile exhibition travelling to schools and communities across Manitoba between late May – late Sept 2022.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Travel with the mobile exhibition to deliver interactive programming to schools and the public inspired by the collection of artworks displayed inside the van.
- Drive the mobile exhibition to various sites confirmed in the Nakatamaakewin travel schedule, and manage general maintenance of vehicle including gas fill-ups.
- Track numbers of visitors each day and manage receipts and other paperwork.
- Maintain protocols for the set up and storage of the artwork in cases.
- Facilitate thoughtful and creative engagement for visitors of all ages with the artwork by means of prescribed activities (tour, Q & A, scavenger, activity booklet and art making workshop(s)).
- Attend a series of orientation and training sessions before program launch.
- This position may include morning, afternoon, evening, and weekend hours including Sundays depending on community needs.
- Other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Student returning to university in the fall.
- A valid Manitoba driving license.
- Experience with delivering community education programs in a school or public service environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Bilingualism preferred.
ASSETS
- Knowledge of Canadian art history, with a focus on Inuit, Métis, and First Nations’ art.
- Fine arts or related degree with familiarity in the area of art education.
- Ability to speak or write Inuktitut or another Indigenous language.
