Canada Life Free Sundays @ WAG-Qaumajuq renewed for three more years

Program extends free access to art, culture, and Indigenous programming for families on the second Sunday of every month until 2026

Winnipeg, Manitoba, February 7, 2023: With more than 20,000 people taking advantage of the program in its first three years, Winnipeg Art Gallery (WAG)-Qaumajuq and Canada Life are pleased to announce the extension of Canada Life Free Sundays @ WAG-Qaumajuq.

“WAG-Qaumajuq is grateful to Canada Life for their support in helping us continue to open our doors to the community at large. Canada Life Free Sundays @ WAG-Qaumajuq removes barriers of access for communities and neighbourhoods across Winnipeg – and beyond,” said Dr. Stephen Borys, Director & CEO, WAG-Qaumajuq. “Thank you to Canada Life for this long-term support of WAG-Qaumajuq – we’re all so proud of what we have accomplished together over these past few decades. I’m excited to continue to welcome our community into the Gallery, barrier free, for the years to come.”

This three-year program launches with new Indigenous programming, creating more opportunities for our community to access the Gallery and Indigenous knowledge within the arts until 2026.

“We’ve proudly supported the Winnipeg Art Gallery for more than 50 years, and we’re so happy to continue our support with a three-year extension for the Free Sundays program,” said Douglas Tkach, Senior Vice-President, Corporate Operations, Canada Life. “Combined with new programming, this is a great opportunity for more visitors to enjoy and explore all that WAG-Quamajuq has to offer.”

Join us Sunday, February 12 for the first Canada Life Free Sundays @ WAG-Qaumajuq of 2023. Winnipeggers will have an opportunity to experience INUA, Qaumajuq’s inaugural show, for the last time before the show closes the following day. Visitors to Free Sunday will be able to access art exploration activities and explore the current exhibitions on display, such as Robert Houle: Red is Beautiful, Headlines: The Art of the News Cycle, and the ongoing display of your Permanent Collection.
