TD Ready Commitment Gives $200,000 for Curatorial Fellowship at WAG-Qaumajuq

Applications are now open for an emerging, equity-deserving curator

Winnipeg, Manitoba, February 27, 2024: The Winnipeg Art Gallery (WAG)-Qaumajuq is pleased to announce a new curatorial fellowship position thanks to support from TD Bank Group, through the TD Ready Commitment. The two-year agreement will provide $200,000 towards an opportunity for an emerging racialized curator to cultivate personal curatorial methodologies, collaborate on exhibition development, collections research, programming, and community relationship-building.

Through a reciprocal mentorship model, the TD Curatorial Fellow will engage and collaborate with artists, WAG-Qaumajuq staff and other arts professionals, as well as connect with local, national, and international communities to achieve a major curatorial project of their own development. To help address systemic barriers to gain professional development opportunities in the sector, the position profile will highlight experience over academic/professional achievement. Applications for the position open today, February 27, 2024, with an anticipated start date in spring 2024.

WAG-Qaumajuq is grateful for TD’s long-time support of the Gallery, with significant and transformative gifts including $500,000 towards the construction of Qaumajuq, the Inuit art centre. With this latest curatorial collaboration, TD continues to be key to WAG-Qaumajuq’s journey towards dismantling historically-endorsed systems to ensure a safe and welcoming space for everyone.
