Manitoba Film Premiere

Thursday, April 18, 7pm screening, followed by reception

The WAG and the Gimli Film Festival are pleased to co-present the Manitoba premiere of the award-winning film, The Grizzlies. Based on a true story, The Grizzlies follows a group of Inuit youth who gain a powerful sense of pride and purpose through the sport of lacrosse in this account of tenacity, renewal, and inspiring resilience in Kugluktuk, Nunavut.

The WAG exhibitions will be open to attendees before and after the screening, so we invite you to come early–doors open at 5pm. There will be a cash bar and snacks available for purchase. Net proceeds will support the WAG Inuit Art Centre and the 19th annual Gimli Film Festival (July 24 to 28, 2019).

The Grizzlies was nominated for Best Canadian First Feature Film at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival and won the 2019 Palm Springs International Film Festival’s Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature.
