Gallery Shop Sales (Casual)

JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Retail Operations Manager the position will provide direct sales and service to customers visiting the Gallery’s Shop.

Starting wage: $14.15/hour

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist customers in the selection of all merchandise
  • Provide information and service to customers including research on art and products
  • Gift wrapping
  • Take special orders on books, reproductions etc. from customers either in person or over the phone. Contact customers when special orders arrive
  • Prepare items for shipping to customers and between locations
  • Operate the POS system for general sales and inventory information
  • Close and balance sales at the end of the day
  • Cleaning, dusting, replacing stock, remerchandising, and maintaining display standards
  • Unpacking and pricing new merchandise
  • Assist with social media platforms and web updates
  • Assist new associates in learning POS system and other relevant training
  • Responsible to provide best efforts to ensure a positive visitor experience for all facets
  • Ongoing performance expectations relating to equity and anti-racism, including ongoing education, confrontation of personal biases, application of the anti-racism policy and equitable decision-making
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma
  • Sales and cash handling experience
  • Computer training in POS system
  • Ability to deal effectively with customers, staff & volunteers in a courteous manner

ASSETS:

  • Fine art background an asset
  • Bilingualism French/English
  • Ability to speak or write and Indigenous language
