WAG Wednesdays in July offer Hot Picasso Deal

New Slate of Guided Tours Just in Time for Summer Holidays!

Winnipeg, Manitoba, July 7, 2017: Starting July 12, the Winnipeg Art Gallery is pleased to introduce WAG Wednesdays for the month of July. Visitors can save almost 50% on admission with $10 entry for individuals and $30 for families. This summer special gives access to all the galleries, including Picasso in Canada and the National Gallery of Canada’s Man and Beast. The Vollard Suite of Prints, and runs every Wednesday until July 28.

New dates for guided tours are also being released with bite sized, noontime tours led by WAG Director & CEO and Picasso in Canada curator Dr. Stephen Borys, among other guides. Both Picasso shows are on view until August 13.

“Response to Picasso has been fantastic so far!” says Borys. “WAG Wednesdays make this rare opportunity to see Picasso on the Prairies even more accessible for the community over the summer holidays, and visitors in town for the 2017 Canada Summer Games. And with our new series of tours, there’s always something more to discover about this iconic and fascinating artist.”

Picasso in Canada brings together Picasso’s best work from collections across the country. Thirty-five pieces were selected by Borys from eight Canadian art museums, as well as some private collections, from paintings and watercolours to drawings, engravings, and ceramic works. Man & Beast features 100 etchings and drypoints, widely considered Picasso’s graphic masterpiece. A treasure of the national collection, only a handful of the complete sets remain, which are rarely exhibited due to their fragility and scale.

Go beyond the art with special guided tours offering an intimate look into Picasso’s life, his artwork, and the women who inspired him. All tours are approximately one-hour in duration and are included with Gallery admission:
