WAG Partners with Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries to Present Free Admission Day

Art activities and exhibitions offer something for everyone March 26
Winnipeg, Manitoba, March 16, 2017: The Winnipeg Art Gallery is pleased to announce a free admission day on Sunday, March 26 from 11:00am-5:00pm, sponsored by Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries. Everyone is invited for a fun-filled afternoon with art activities for the whole family.

“Hosting a free day offers the community a wonderful opportunity to experience art and culture at the WAG,” says Dr. Stephen Borys, WAG Director & CEO. “We welcome hundreds of visitors every year and with our wide range of exhibitions, everyone who visits will find something that inspires them. We thank Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries for making this special day possible.”

Two art activities will be available for hands-on art interaction from 12:00-4:00pm. Draw your vision of Canada on a mini-mobile art studio, modeled after the WAG’s Canada 150 Signature Initiative project ART EXPRESS’D/ART EXPRIMÉ, or paint a design on glass for framing.

“The Winnipeg Art Gallery engages Manitobans of all ages in visual arts with its range of exhibits, programs, and activities. It is a cultural destination that the entire family can truly learn from and enjoy,” said Peter Hak, President & CEO of Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries. “We are pleased to once again support free admission day on March 26.”

Visitors will have access to all the exhibitions: Our Land: Contemporary Art from the Arctic, featuring rarely seen treasures from the Government of Nunavut’s Fine Art Collections; Boarder X, presenting work by contemporary artists from Indigenous nations across Canada who surf, skate, and snowboard; Rodin’s larger-than-life bronze, The Thinker; the newly opened Nature Rearranged, exploring the flower power of the last century; Wanda Koop’s surreal VIEW from HERE; and highlights from the permanent collection, including Tom Thomson and The Group of Seven.

The WAG is grateful to Presenting Sponsor Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries for supporting this free admission day at the WAG.
