Winnipeg, Manitoba, July 31, 2015: The Winnipeg Art Gallery announces the appointment of Director & CEO Dr. Stephen Borys to the Association of Art Museum Directors (AAMD) Board of Trustees. Dr. Borys is the only Canadian member.
“This election to the Association of Art Museum Directors Board of Trustees is great for Canada and the Winnipeg Art Gallery,” states Dr. Stephen Borys, WAG Director & CEO. “I am honoured to serve on the Board and participate in constructive conversations around the important role art plays in our communities.”
AAMD represents 242 art museum directors in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, and works to support its members in increasing the contribution of art museums to society, while advancing the profession by maintaining the highest standards of excellence in museum practice. “We are delighted to welcome Dr. Stephen Borys to the Association of Art Museum Directors Board of Trustees," comments Christine Anagnos, AAMD Executive Director. “His experience, insights, and perspective will be a wonderful resourc as AAMD continues to execute the goal and priorities of the Association”.
