WAG Workshop Marries Visual Art and Creative Writing

What do visual art and creative writing have in common? Plenty, as you will find out at Write to Art, a two-day workshop put on by the Winnipeg Art Gallery in conjunction with the exhibition 100 Masters: Only in Canada. Writers Marjorie Anderson and Deborah Schnitzer are back with another workshop that weds creative writing to visual art. Participants will be guided through individual and group exercises that will enhance and enliven their writing practices, whatever their current writing projects and levels of experience.

Write to Art will take place on Saturday, May 25 from 9:30am-4pm, and on Sunday, May 26 from 1-4:30pm. Registration fees are $150 for WAG members and $170 for non-members. This includes coffee and tea both days and a light lunch on Saturday. Registrations may be made at wag.ca or by calling 204.789.1290.  Since Write to Art can accommodate only 25 people, early registration is advised.

“We began Write to Art a few years ago as just a two-hour session and it has proved so popular that it now extends over two days,” says Anna Wiebe, Head of Education. “And if seeing works by Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Renoir, Matisse, Monet, and so many other great artists isn’t inspiration, I don’t know what is!”

BMO is the presenting sponsor of 100 Masters: Only in Canada.
