WAG Calls for Nominations for Centennial Recognition Awards

Do you know someone who has made a significant contribution to the Winnipeg Art Gallery? Perhaps they have worked long volunteer hours, donated artwork or initiated new projects at the Gallery. The WAG is calling for nominations for its Centennial Recognition Awards—100 awards for 100 years. The Awards will recognize outstanding dedication and contribution to the growth and development of the Winnipeg Art Gallery, which is celebrating its Centennial anniversary this year.

“As Canada’s oldest civic art gallery, the WAG would not be one of the country’s leading art museums without the wholehearted support of the community,” says Executive Director Stephen Borys. “The WAG has always been about people. Those who visit the Gallery to experience the art and the programming. Those who have donated works of art to our permanent collection. Those who have supported us through sponsorship of exhibitions and educational programs.  Those whose volunteerism makes possible so many of our events such as the Gallery Ball, Art & Soul, or Nuit Blanche and whose work on the Board of Governors provides leadership and guidance. These are the people and groups we want to honour with our Centennial Recognition Awards.”

Nominees may be an individual, a group, or an organization. Details on the nomination, along with a nomination form, may be found on the WAG’s Centennial website at wag100.ca, click on Art and then on Recognition Awards. Deadline for nominations is 4pm, February 22, 2013.
