WAG Displays Work of Studio Programs Adult Students

Although The Winnipeg Art Gallery is known for its wonderful annual children’s art show, the adults taking art classes with the Gallery’s Studio Programs also have their time to shine. And that time is at the public reception for the opening of the Adult Students’ Art Show taking place in the WAG’s Studio Programs building Thursday, July 7 from 7 to 9pm. The exhibition will be on display Tuesday through Friday from noon until 4pm until July 28.

“Our adult students’ exhibition includes fine examples of drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, and so much more,” says Michael Boss, Head of Studio Programs. “The skill and enthusiasm demonstrated by these artists is a tribute to their dedication and to the high quality of instruction that takes place in our studios. We are very proud of our students and are pleased to present this work to the public.”

The Studio Programs of the Winnipeg Art Gallery is one of the largest of its kind in Canada, offering a wide variety of art classes for adults—sculpture and pottery, drawing, photography, oils, watercolours, and acrylics. Classes are held in the evenings and afternoons, with a special fee reduction for seniors taking selected afternoon classes. Classes take advantage of special tours of current exhibitions, creating a link between the art exhibited in the galleries and the art created in the classrooms.

Registration is now taking place for the August summer sessions for both children and adults. Visit wag.ca for more information or to register or call Studio Programs at 789-1766.
