Local Chefs and Ceramic Artists Featured in Second Volume of Celebrated Cookbook

Down to Earth: Homemade Soups in Handmade Vessels Launches in Advance of CRAFTED: Show + Sale 2019

Winnipeg, Manitoba, October 28, 2019: The second volume of a philanthropic cookbook featuring 21 recipes created by local chefs served in bowls handcrafted by ceramic artists launched this month. Down to Earth: Homemade Soups in Handmade Vessels Volume 2 is a collaborative project from Ayoko Design and the Winnipeg Art Gallery’s CRAFTED: Show + Sale, coming up on November 8 and 9. Proceeds from the sale of the publication will be divided equally between the Winnipeg Art Gallery and Winnipeg Harvest.

CRAFTED is a one-of-a-kind event, highlighting over 60 artists from Manitoba and Nunavut. One of the unique features of CRAFTED is a philanthropic component that changes each year. From a call for handmade quilts going to patients in care, to a drive for knitted toques for youth, the handmade becomes the hand-given thanks to CRAFTED and the community who contribute to the cause. The first volume of the cookbook has raised nearly $15 000 and counting in support of Winnipeg Harvest.

Both volumes are made possible by CRAFTED 2019 Chair Yoko Chapman and her company Ayoko Design, which created this special cookbook issue of Anthropologie. Representing Winnipeg and beyond, participating chefs and artists donated their time and expertise to bring the vision to life.

• The fifth annual CRAFTED: Show + Sale on November 8 and 9 showcases the latest work by over 60 jury-selected artists, presented in partnership with Manitoba Craft Council and Nunavut Arts and Crafts Association.

• Tickets to CRAFTED are just $5 or free for kids under 12, and include Gallery admission.
