5:00pm - 9:00pm

As Donna Haraway puts it in Anthropocene, Capitalocene, Chthulucene: Staying with the Trouble; “In the midst of The Three Guineas Virginia Woolf insists, “Think we must.” Think we must. If ever there has been a time for the need seriously to think, it is now”.

In challenging times, it can feel overwhelming to “stay with the trouble”. It can feel impossible to imagine a better world, but if you cannot imagine a better future, it will not happen.

A great remedy to feeling stuck is to act, so come and make together in this workshop. Artist Helga Jakobson will guide participants in a mixed media banner, bunting or pennant making workshop.

Come and sit in community and write a message for a better world. There will be collage and textiles supplies available.

Helga Jakobson

Helga Jakobson is a transdisciplinary artist living on Treaty One Territory. In 2017, she received an MFA from AKV St. Joost (The Netherlands) and Transdisciplinary New Media program at the Paris College of Art (France). She has exhibited and participated in residencies across Canada and Europe. She often works within the realm of new media, with a particular affinity for sound as medium. Lately her research has centred around the sixth mass extinction that we are living in, as well as how to live on a damaged earth and how to make tangible the almost invisible and inaudible losses that are occurring all around us.
