Who is seen, how are then seen, and who gets to decide?

Join us for the long-awaited opening of Reframed. Curated by Marie-Anne Redhead, Reframed invites us to see differently.

Throughout the WAG-Qaumajuq collection, Indigeneity (and the racialized “Other”) appears explicitly and implicitly. Historical images of Indigenous figures by settler artists — shaped by the dominant colonial perspectives of their time — are placed alongside pieces by Indigenous and racialized artists of today who challenge, reclaim, and recontextualize these narratives. More on the show

Reception following the formal remarks featuring music from DJ, The Kaptain.

WAG-Qaumajuq recognizes that land acknowledgements are part of an ongoing dialogue with Indigenous Nations, and we are grateful to live and work on these lands and waters. Institutionally, WAG-Qaumajuq is committed to acknowledging our colonial history and we are actively working to interrogate the Gallery’s colonial ways of being.

WAG-Qaumajuq is LEED certified.
