5:00pm - 9:00pm

Join us for a special screening of the ever-popular My Winnipeg, as part of National Canadian Film Day, a massive, nation-wide celebration of Canadian cinema.

In this film, Canadian filmmaker Guy Maddin conducts a personal tour of Winnipeg, Manitoba, the town where he grew up and still lives, in a film he calls a “docu-fantasia.” By combining archival footage and interviews, dreamlike camera work and recreated scenes — including several with actress Ann Savage playing the part of Maddin’s mother — the filmmaker builds a portrait of Winnipeg that manages to be historical, intimate, surreal, entertaining, and entirely his own. Come early at 6:30pm to save a seat, grab a drink at the cash bar, and enjoy live music by local pianist and master improvisor Kolade Jesugbemi in the Main Hall. It will be a night to remember!

Initial release: September 7, 2007. Director: Guy Maddin. Running time: 1h 20m. Rated PG. Producers: Guy Maddin, Phyllis Laing, Jody Shapiro, Michael Burns, Phyllis Lang
