The Visible Vault
This tour offers a unique encounter with the world’s largest and most comprehensive collection of contemporary Inuit art, displayed in a stunning three-story glass vault at the heart of Qaumajuq. Journey across Nunangat, the Inuit homeland in Canada, as you take in thousands of carvings from over 32 Northern communities in the vault spanning decades of production. Learn about the artwork and artists and discover the stories behind different works of art to gain a greater understanding of the culture, the land, and the people of the Canadian Arctic.
INUA (Inuit Nunangat Ungammuaktut Atautikkut or ‘Inuit Moving Forward Together’; ‘Spirit’ or ‘Life Force’)
Visit INUA, the inaugural exhibition in the new 8,000 sq ft Qilak (“sky”) gallery, the largest single gallery space devoted to Inuit art and culture. Explore the dynamic integration of old, modern and contemporary Inuit art and discuss a wide range of groundbreaking works created by more than 90 artists from across the Inuit circumpolar world.
