12:00pm - 10:00pm

Visit WAG-Qaumajuq on National Indigenous Peoples Day for a day of Indigenous art education and evening concerts!

Enjoy lunch starting at 12pm at Katita Café — bison chili, bannock, and smoked salmon are on the menu and available for purchase.

Family-friendly workshops will be located in Eckhardt Hall and Skylight Gallery from 1pm-5pm.

In the afternoon we’ll have drop in tours — beginning at 1pm join us on a tour of Inuit Sanaugangit: Art Across Time, and explore Inuit Nunangat through the eyes of the stories of the artists.

At 2:30pm a guided tour of The Art of Faye HeavyShield will be offered as we walk visitors through her installations, drawings, and writing imbued with memory, ancestral and personal, celebration of kinship, and stories of home and place. Drop-in tours are included in the cost of admission.

Lastly, we will finish the day with a rooftop concert featuring live performances from DJ The Kaptain (6pm), JC Campbell (8pm), and Brandi Vezina (9pm). The event is family friendly and will have a jigging contest with Metis music performed by Brad Moggie and Serge Carriere (7pm), plus free snacks!

Institutionally, WAG-Qaumajuq is committed to acknowledging our colonial history and we are actively working to interrogate the Gallery’s colonial ways of being.
