As part of the Olympus exhibition, the WAG is partnering with local athletes and organizations to celebrate modern day gods and goddesses.

In this new collection of photographs, Winnipeg-based photographer Ian McCausland takes his cue from Olympus. The local heroes and heroines celebrated in these photographs are reminiscent of the artist’s muse in ancient times.

Many deities were worshiped in antiquity, but none more than the Olympian gods. The athletes each selected the god they identify with most. Watch the behind-the-scenes videos here to learn about the attributes that resonate with these modern day heroes.
