Instructor

Helga Jakobson

In 2017, Jakobson received an MFA from AKV St. Joost (The Netherlands) in conjunction with courses in the Transdisciplinary New Media program at the Paris College of Art (France). She has participated in residencies across Canada and Europe, given lectures in France, the United Kingdom, Colombia and Canada and was most recently selected by V2 for their Graduation Edition (in recognition of being one of the five most promising graduates of 2017 across Europe with work focused in New Media).

She was nominated for the Blooom Award and as a finalist for the Salt Spring National Art Prize. Currently, she is a mentor for the DATA mentorship program through Video Pool Media Art Centre and the Arts and Accessibility Network, and just presented her first major solo exhibition at aceartinc. Her favourite things to do are listening to plants and spiderwebs through machines that she builds and spending time with her cat and dog.
