As a part of Art in Bloom 2026, we’re partnering with Floral Fixx Design Studio to bring botanical workshops to the Gallery!

Think forest-inspired layers, unexpected shapes, and design choices that look like they were gathered straight from nature (but styled like couture).

Join Julie Myers, founder of The Floral Fixx, for a mini workshop introducing the fundamentals of Ikebana-style floral design—the Japanese art of arranging flowers with intention, balance, and space.

Ikebana is different from traditional floral arranging: it focuses on line, movement, proportion, and negative space, using fewer stems in a more thoughtful and artistic way.

In this class, Julie will teach you simple, professional methods you can repeat at home, including:

  • How to use a flower frog (kenzan) for secure stem placement
  • How to create structure using stems as a natural grid
  • How to work with snake grass to build shape and modern movement
  • How to design with intentional line placement so your arrangement feels balanced, clean, and sculptural

This session is perfect for anyone who loves minimal design, wants to try something new, or wants to learn a more elevated way to arrange flowers.

All tools and materials provided. You’ll leave with your own Ikebana-inspired piece to take home and enjoy.
