Honouring Our Métis Mothers is a collective art project celebrating the lives of women and girls of the Red River Métis Nation across the Homeland. The project launched at the St Boniface Museum by Métis artist Tracy Charette Fehr on Louis Riel day on February 2024. It will continue as a collaborative art project by and for Red River Métis folks until February 2025.
Join us on Saturdays at 1pm to take part in this art project! During each session, you’ll work to stitch or bead the name of a Métis woman or girl who you would like to honour. All skill levels are welcome—Tracy will demonstrate simple techniques for those interested. You do not need to attend every Saturday, only as many as you’d like to or are able to attend.
Materials to bring*:
- Embroidery threads and needles
- Beads and beading needles
- One piece of wool (max. size of 6 x 8 inches)
- Fabric or leathers for embellishments (optional)
*Tracy will provide some materials for those attending in-person.
