Instructor
Nicole Shimonek
Nicole is a visual and multimedia artist with a MFA from the Chelsea College of Art and Design, UAL, London, and a BFA from the U of M, Winnipeg. She is active in the arts as an administrator, instructor, mentor, and freelancer. She is an instructor with the Winnipeg Art Gallery studio programs and volunteers with Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Winnipeg.
Notable exhibitions include “The Fragile Power of Drawing” in Paris, France, “Live in the Centre” at the Winnipeg Art Gallery, and “Art Building Community” at Gallery 1C03. Her site-responsive installations have shown during Nuit Blanche, Social Innovation Challenge, and Urban Idea’s Creative Placemaking Challenge.
Nicole’s videos have screened at BBC’s big-screen events, Prairie Scene in Ottawa, Images Festival in Toronto, and with Studio 303 at the MAI in Montreal. She has been the recipient of various grants through the Manitoba and Winnipeg Arts Council.
