In anticipation for spring it is important that we listen to our surroundings and ourselves, this is the theme of what our artmaking activity will be for the month of March. The drop-in tours will also be connected to this theme. This theme has been inspired by Carrie Allison’s exhibition, We Tend to Care.
Our facilitators will be guiding an art-making activity that is centered on listening to our surroundings, inviting you to create drawings that reflect the sounds you hear around you. This art-making activity is a meditative exercise in quietness, listening and reflection on what we’ve heard. The end result of this activity will be an artwork that the participants have created from what they are hearing within their surroundings and can bring home to further reflect on their experience here in the gallery.
We’re also excited to continue offering French drop-in tours as part of our Free Sunday programming—now a regular feature—to better welcome and engage Winnipeg’s French-speaking community.
Free public parking is available at the Canada Life parking lot behind 100 Osborne Street North for visitors on Canada Life Free Sundays@WAG-Qaumajuq. As well, downtown street parking is free Sundays, and several bus routes service Portage Avenue & Colony Street as well as Portage Avenue & Vaughn Street.
WAG-Qaumajuq is an accessible space. There are gender neutral washrooms on every floor of WAG-Qaumajuq. Quiet spaces are available if needed and armless chairs are available. Click here for more accessibility information.
