About the Bonsai Society of Winnipeg

For 40 years, the Bonsai Society of Winnipeg has offered expert teaching and encouraged artists to grow and design their own bonsai in Manitoba’s somewhat difficult growing Zone 3 environment. The Society has developed in recent years from historical membership levels of 30 or 40 to over 100 members. In addition to monthly education meetings, activities involve collecting trees from the wild, group orders for materials and supplies, and hands-on training often led by internationally recognized visiting artists. Members all have access to the Society’s significant lending library, in-depth introductory courses and advanced workshops. Over the years our members have authored many articles in local and international publications. Our executive board consists of twelve individuals with varied backgrounds, all of whom share a passion for the art of Bonsai, and a desire to drive the Society forward. The Bonsai Society of Winnipeg is a member of BCI (Bonsai Clubs International) and maintains ties to clubs and artists all over the world.
