In partnership with Black History Month Manitoba Celebration Committee, Toronto-based singer-songwriter Duane Forrest presents his captivating, award-winning music-storytelling show to WAG-Qaumajuq. With a deep personal connection to his Jamaican roots and a profound admiration for Bob Marley, Duane takes the audience on a journey through the history, cultural impact, and timeless songs of the reggae icon.

Born to Jamaican parents in Toronto, Duane’s exposure to reggae shaped both his music and life. Through storytelling, live music, and audience interaction, he shares how reggae transformed his life and became a global phenomenon, all while capturing the essence of Bob Marley’s music.

Duane Forrest

Duane Forrest is a Toronto-based artist who blends music and storytelling in his theatrical works. In 2017, he debuted Climb, a live album experience based on his concept album, which was praised at the 2018 Toronto Fringe Festival. Climb went on to receive glowing reviews at both the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2019 & 2022 and the Milan Fringe Festival in 2023, where it was runner-up for “Show of the Festival.” Duane’s latest work, Bob Marley: How Reggae Changed the World, was a sell-out show at the 2024 Edinburgh Fringe Festival and earned a 5-star review from Broadway Baby. Throughout his career, Duane has continued to push the boundaries of theatre by integrating live music, storytelling, and cultural history into his performances, creating immersive and impactful experiences.
