Remembering Elisapee Ishulutaq

WAG-Qaumajuq Curator of Inuit Art, Darlene Coward Wight reflected on the time she spent with renowned Inuit artist, Elisapee Ishulutaq in the new McMichael Canadian Art Collection catalogue, Elisapee Ishulutaq: My World.

Coward Wight was in Pangnirtung in 2013 with WAG-Qaumajuq Director & CEO Stephen Borys, Qaumajuq architect, Michael Maltzan and his family, George Cibinel of Cibinel Architecture, and photographer, Iwan Baan. They met up with Ishulutaq and had a lively conversation. This trip was the impetus for Coward Wight’s trip a year later to work with Ishulutaq on a large scale commission.
