In Full Bloom, Honouring Associates

Developed by the Associate’s Legacy Committee chaired by fairy godmothers Andrea Cibinel and Esme Scarlett, these Floral Tributes recognize just some of the Associates who have helped the Gallery flourish for everyone in the community.
For decades, these dedicated volunteers have shaped WAG-Qaumajuq in ways both visible and unseen. They have worn many hats at the Gallery; their contributions are woven into its architecture, collection, and community. Now, they are honoured in petals! You’ll find these special bouquets and the flower bar in the Main Hall during Art in Bloom.
Tannis’ Flower Bar

Tannis’ Flower Bar invites you into the act of creation itself. Named in honour of Tannis M. Richardson—an Associate since 1950 and a driving force behind some of the Gallery’s most iconic features—the flower bar reflects both her vision and generosity.
Tannis played an instrumental role in raising funds for the Gallery’s legendary stone door, a defining element of Gus Da Roza’s modernist design that greatly welcomes everyone to the WAG. Later she supported the realization of Abraham Anghik Ruben’s Time to Play, a timeless landmark as you enter Qaumajuq. Tannis was also a member of the founding committee for CRAFTED: Show + Sale, now a signature event that draws thousands of visitors each year to discover one-of-a-kind craft by artists from across Manitoba and the North. Tannis’ legacy is one of transformation—of making space for art and design to exist.
In that spirit, the flower bar offers a hands-on experience: you are invited to compose your own arrangement, selecting blooms and greenery to create something personal, ephemeral, and alive.
Signature Bouquets
Each bouquet is a study in character—an interpretation of the individuals who inspired them.
Elegant Elaine

For Elaine Margolis, Associate since 1967. A longstanding member of the Works of Art Committee, Elaine has helped steward the Gallery’s acquisitions with discernment and care, shaping the collection for future generations. Elaine was President of the Associates from 1983-1985, and for over three decades she helped lead the Inside Gallery (including as manager and buyer), a department in the Gallery Shop devoted to Canadian craft artists. She is a key champion who has helped form significant relationships with artists for the WAG. Her legacy continues through the WAG Studio Elaine Margolis Scholarship, supporting emerging artists and ensuring that creativity continues to thrive.
I took art classes as a youngster, when the WAG was at the Civic Auditorium many years ago. It was a privilege to have been selected, while attending William Whyte School. This formed my foundation for the love and involvement in the visual arts, especially at the WAG.

Vibrant Vicky

For Vicky Wilson, Associate since 1972. Vicky’s presence has long been a vital thread in the fabric of the Associates, bringing people together in support of the Gallery’s mission. Vicky served as President of the Associates from 1975 to 1977, and on various committees such as the 50th anniversary of the Associates of the WAG in 1998.
Sherry Chic

For Sherry Glanville, Associate since 1998. Sherry is a dedicated supporter, including as a longstanding member of the Associates Travel Tour committee with her husband (and fellow Associate), Bill. The program raises critical funds each year contributing to the vitality and continuity of the Gallery and its impact in the community. Sherry currently serves on the Works of Art Committee.
Being a member of the Associates has given me so many opportunities to learn about art and to form lasting friendships.

Luminous Lila

For Lila Goodspeed Everett, Associate since 2003. Lila happily joined the WAG volunteers after involvement with Volunteer Canada that coordinated the Canadian celebration of the International Year of Volunteers. Lila went on to serve as President of the Associates from 2005 to 2008. A leader and champion, she co-chaired the Inuit Art Centre community campaign, including the Visible Vault campaign, and previously co-chaired the Gallery’s Centennial Committee. Lila’s vision and advocacy have helped shape WAG-Qaumajuq as it stands today.
Together, these Floral Tributes are gestures of recognition—living acknowledgements of those who have helped the Gallery grow, adapt, and endure for the benefit of the community at large.
Experience Art in Bloom and embrace the arrival of spring with these special bouquets and the flower bar.
I always got more than I gave. I so appreciate being recognized by the WAG Associates and most flattered to be likened to a bouquet of flowers. Will wonders never cease!
