Art is a Voice

Exterior rendering of Qaumajuq, the Inuit Art Centre. Michael Maltzan Architecture.

Art is a voice. The WAG’s Inuit Art Centre will invite the world inside to listen — and to respond. This video shows how art can inspire and spark the imagination. A diverse group of people were invited to the WAG to experience Inuit art and to share their impressions. Many of the participants had never visited the Gallery or seen Inuit art before. Their unscripted responses demonstrate that art has the power to challenge assumptions, break down barriers, and open up new dialogues.

WAG-Qaumajuq recognizes that land acknowledgements are part of an ongoing dialogue with Indigenous Nations, and we are grateful to live and work on these lands and waters. Institutionally, WAG-Qaumajuq is committed to acknowledging our colonial history and we are actively working to interrogate the Gallery’s colonial ways of being.

WAG-Qaumajuq is LEED certified.
