WAG Celebrates the North with Family Sunday: Arctic Chill Out

Winnipeg, Manitoba, January 23, 2019: The Winnipeg Art Gallery (WAG) invites the community for an afternoon of fun on January 27. The annual Family Sunday: Arctic Chill Out celebrates Inuit art and culture with indoor and outdoor games, hands-on workshops, huskies on the rooftop, and much more!

EVENT DETAILS

  • Arctic Chill Out happens Sunday, January 27 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at the WAG, 300 Memorial Blvd, with an exciting series of activities on all four floors of the Gallery.
  • Head up to the iconic WAG rooftop for iglu building demonstrations by Manitoba Inuit Association, snow forts and colourful snow games, and huskies Tundra, Coco, Buffy, and Spike.
  • Warm up inside with hot drinks and bannock, take part in a soapstone carving workshop, and snap some pictures with Harness Adventures’ dog sled photo-op.
  • Go on a scavenger hunt through two Inuit art exhibitions: Mary Yuusipik Singaqti: Back River Memories and Nivinngajuliaat from Baker Lake.
  • Learn more about the North through artifacts, animal survival revealed by FortWhyte Alive, and National Film Board animations.
  • Watch and play the Never Alone video game, bringing the atmospheric and compelling world of Iñupiaq stories alive.

TICKETS
Admission is $20 per family (up to two adults and four children under 18) and FREE for members of the WAG and Manitoba Inuit Association. Available at the door. Includes entry to all exhibitions.
