WAG Celebrates Holiday Season with Free Party for Families

Winnipeg, Manitoba, December 1, 2015: The Winnipeg Art Gallery is gearing up for its annual Holiday Party on Saturday, December 5. This festive event is a free, fun-filled afternoon for the whole family, running from 1:30 to 4pm.

With a host of games, music, hot chocolate, and cookies, the WAG elves will be on hand to help visitors create their own artful holiday decorations. Back this year is Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet’s Filbert the Bear, the lovable mascot from Nutcracker. There will also be a chance to see Filbert in action by winning free tickets to this year’s production of Nutcracker.

“The WAG’s Holiday Party is a wonderful opportunity to spend time with your family in a creative atmosphere,” says Rachel Baerg, WAG Head of Education. “We invite everyone in the community to make this joyful event part of their family’s holiday tradition.”

Visitors can get a little holiday shopping done, too. Gallery Shop features a fabulous selection of inspiring gifts for the whole family, while a WAG Gift Membership has something for everyone! Family Memberships purchased in December include a free visit to Olympus.

The WAG’s Holiday Party would not be possible without the sponsorship support of the Winnipeg Free Press. Special thank you to Stella’s Catering for supplying the hot chocolate, to 67th Winnipeg Scout Group and Ron Paul Garden Centre for donating the tree, to the Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet for adding Nutcracker sparkle to the day’s festivities. Thank you also to Sweet Impressions for the nut free cookies and to Tiffany Humble from the Rosemarie Peart Music Studio for facilitating a sing-a-long and piano recital.
