WAG Welcomes 2014 Winnipeg Fringe Festival with Special Deals

Winnipeg, MB, July 18, 2014: The Winnipeg Art Gallery is thrilled to be a venue for the 2014 Winnipeg Fringe Festival, running July 16-27. The WAG is hosting ten shows in the Muriel Richardson Auditorium. In honour of the Fringe, the Gallery is offering some special deals for all to enjoy!

Fringers are invited to bring their ticket stub from any festival event at the WAG to receive $2 off admission to exhibitions, including 7: Professional Native Indian Artists Inc. This touring show looks at Canada’s first Aboriginal artist collective, a groundbreaking cultural and political entity that self-organized to demand recognition.

Plus, Relax Coffee Bar will be open in the WAG’s Eckhardt Hall foyer from 4-11pm, July 22-26, 2014, so visitors can refuel and take in more events.

An all-time high of 323 companies vied for the 118 available Fringe spots, which includes 55 local, 34 national, 22 international, and seven Kids Venue spots. Six provinces are represented in the festival – Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, and Quebec – in   addition to international groups from the United Kingdom, South Africa, Australia, France, and the United States.

“The 2014 lineup includes many returning Fringe fan favourites,” comments Chuck McEwen, Winnipeg Fringe Festival Executive Producer, “as well as plenty of first-time artists and companies who are looking forward to seeing the enthusiastic audiences at the WAG.”
