Spring Fashion Show at WAG Gallery Shop

Designer fashions. Vintage handbags. Exquisite jewelry. Champagne and hors d’ouvres. New paintings by Michel Saint Hilaire. The Gallery Shop at the Winnipeg Art Gallery presents The Collection: A Fashion Show on Wednesday, May 21.

Immerse yourself in art and fashion as models walk the runway winding through six exhibition galleries. Emceed by CBC’s Janet Stewart, the spring fashion show will showcase 100 inspired looks curated from the collections of Winnipeg’s most exclusive boutiques.

A champagne reception will follow in Eckhardt Hall where a selection of vintage handbags from the Costume Museum of Canada will be on view. Guests can browse the jewelry bar, meeting the makers and designers of their favourite new accessories.

In the Shop’s exhibition space, guests can be among the first to see Borders, the newest paintings by Manitoba artist Michel Saint Hilaire. Saint Hilaire records and predicts urban sprawl and industrial takeover superimposed against pristine Canadian landscapes.

“This our third fashion show,” says Shop Manager Sherri Van Went, “and they just keep getting bigger and better. Last year, we had an attendance of 300, raising over $8,000 for the Gallery and we hope to improve on that this year.”

Doors open at 6pm and the fashion show begins at 7pm. Tickets are $50 for the public and $40 for WAG members. They can be purchased at wag.ca. or through the Gallery Shop at 204.789.1769.

Sponsored by CBC, VQ Salon, Swish Model Management, and JMC Makeup Artistry.  Clothing sponsors: Danali, Moulé, candie&dolls, Therapy, Aevi, Mad About Style Boutique.
