Canada’s Next Top Model to Open WAG Fashion Show

WINNIPEG, May 18, 2012:  Meaghan Waller, winner of the 2009 Canada’s Next Top Model contest, will open the Winnipeg Art Gallery’s The Collection: A Fashion Show on Wednesday, May 23.

The WAG will be transforming its exhibition spaces into a fashion runway for an exciting evening of art, fashion, jewelry, and champagne. Against a backdrop of the Collection on View exhibition, models will show off the latest looks from Winnipeg’s finest boutiques—Danali, Candie & Dolls, Moulé, and Swank. The clothing will be accented by wearable art, one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces created by artists represented in the Gallery Shop.

Meaghan (Swish model management) has just returned to Winnipeg to visit family after finishing Mercedes fashion week in Sidney, Australia. Following the WAG fashion show, she will be retuning to New York where she has been living since last summer. Since becoming Canada’s Next Top Model, she has been working internationally for world-class designers such as Donna Karen and Tommy Hilfiger.

All proceeds of the fashion show will benefit the Gallery. Tickets are $40 for WAG members and $50 for non-members. They can be purchased by calling 789.1769 or at

The Collection: A Fashion Show is sponsored by, VQ Salon, Swish Model Management, Virulent Valmont, Town Shoes, and JMC Makeup.

Celebrating its centenary from September 2012 to August 2013, the Winnipeg Art Gallery is Canada’s oldest civic art gallery and Manitoba’s leading visual arts institution. With a collection of over 25,000 objects spanning ten centuries—including the world’s largest collection of contemporary Inuit art—the WAG constantly moves between the historical and the contemporary, engaging a growing public with the power of art in our lives.
