WAG Exhibition Turns into Fashion Runway

On Wednesday, May 23 at 7pm, the Winnipeg Art Gallery is transforming its exhibition spaces into a fashion runway with The Collection: A Fashion Show.  Against a backdrop of the WAG’s Collection on View exhibition, models will show off the latest looks from Winnipeg’s finest boutiques—Danali, Candie & Dolls, Moulé, and Swank. The clothing will be accented by wearable art, one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces created by artists represented in the Gallery Shop.

This May, while the Met is exhibiting Schiaparelli and Prada, the WAG will be showcasing Sarah Pacini, Iris Setlakwe, Nanette Lepore, and Rachel Mara (originally from Winnipeg).  Models will be accessorized with new works by Anne Marie Chagnon, CJ Tennant, Lily Rosenberg, Johanna Brierley and other fabulous Canadian jewelers.”

“Fashion and art have always had a dynamic relationship,” says Sherri Van Went, Manager of the Gallery Shop.  “Dress can be art-at-play; a ready-to-wear form of self-expression and artistry. Colours, prints, textiles, paintings, sculpture, jewelry… We are so excited about this show, which is a first for the Shop. It’s going to be spectacular with fashion, art, champagne, hors d’oeuvres, fabulous door prizes, and shopping.”

All proceeds of the fashion show will benefit the Gallery. Tickets are $40 for WAG members and $50 for non-members. They can be purchased by calling 789.1769 or by visiting the WAG website at http://wag.ca/visit/events/specialevents/display,event/422/the-collection-a-fashion-show.

The Collection: A Fashion Show is sponsored by, VQ Salon, Swish Model Management, Virulent Valmont, Town Shoes, and JMC Makeup.
