Indigenous Ways & Learning Facilitator (Casual)

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Head of Indigenous Ways & Learning, this position is responsible for providing an educational experience by conducting youth tours, adult tours, participating in team teaching and mentorship in the training of volunteer guides.

Wage:
$19.24/hr

Hours of Work: 
Casual hours, mostly during days and some weekends.

Start Date:
September 3 or 4 (required for onboarding and training)

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducts and adapts Learning & Programs for youth and/or adults
  • Attends regular Learning & Program training
  • Researches exhibitions in preparation for delivery of programs
  • Maintains Learning & Program resources and materials
  • Assists in the training process for new Learning & Program facilitators or volunteers
  • Provides regular feedback on Indigenous Ways & Learning
  • Ongoing performance expectations relating to equity and anti-racism, including ongoing education, confrontation of personal biases, application of the anti-racism policy and equitable decision-making.
  • Other duties as assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum two year’s post-secondary education in fine art or art history
  • Minimum two years’ experience working with children
  • Clear Child Abuse Registry check
  • Good communication and leadership skills

ASSETS:

  • Knowledge of Internet research procedures desirable
  • Ability to speak or write an Indigenous language
  • Fluency in French and English for bi-lingual facilitator
  • First Aid Certification
