Financial Analyst (Part time with increase to full time within 1 year)

JOB SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Deputy Director & CFO analyse day to day accounting functions, transaction recordings for optimization and digitization Preparation of Financial analysis and reports for staff and board.

Reports to: Deputy Director & CFO

Department: Finance

Rate of Pay: $40,000-60,000 (Part-time) — $60,000-$100,000 (Full-time) annually; including benefits, pension

Work Hours: Monday-Friday, 35 hours for Full Time – Flexible scheduling – Onsite work only

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular financial analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks, providing actionable insights to support strategic initiatives and operational efficiency.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development and monitoring of annual budgets, providing insights and recommendations to management for financial planning and decision-making.
  • Prepare and reconcile monthly reports for Finance Committee and other Government or Granting bodies.
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining the operating, capital budgets and other fund budgets.
  • Review and assess current procurement and accounting processes for improvement and compliance.
  • Investigate new software options for alignment with processes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments to gather financial information, resolve discrepancies, and support organizational objectives.
  • Ongoing performance expectations relating to equity and anti-racism, including ongoing education, confrontation of personal biases, application of the anti-racism policy and equitable decision-making.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • University degree
  • Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant in good standing 
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar environment

Assets

  • Demonstrated supervisory experience  
  • First aid certification. 
  • Familiarity with Indigenous knowledge/ways of knowing, stories, and protocol (or Ability to speak or write an Indigenous language) 
  • Experience within a not-for-profit organization 
  • Ability to speak French.
