Exhibitions & Storage Assistant (Part Time)

The Exhibitions & Storage Assistant will report to the Registrar, and assist with Archival & Collections practices during their placement. We are hiring for two positions,
• $16/hr
• 640 hours until March 31, 2022

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Categorize analogue photography collections (slides and transparencies) for transfer into Collections or Archival holdings
  • Identify exhibitions in analogue photography material and file accordingly
  • Scan slides and transparencies
  • Edit digital files for publication quality use
  • Track digital and analogue photography holdings of exhibitions in the WAG’s collections database
  • Aid with movement of artwork to new vault locations
  • Help modify new shelving units for artwork storage needs
  • Help move and rearrange vault and other storage spaces as necessary
  • Assist prep department with exhibition de/installations as necessary
  • Obtain copyright permissions for images if necessary
  • Other duties as required

Experience

  • Photo editing (Photoshop & Bridge)
  • Art handling experience
  • Experience scanning film materials
  • Experience working in a museum environment

Qualifications

  • Ability to lift 30lbs
  • Highly detail oriented
  • Ability to manage multiple sets of data and timelines
  • Must be enrolled as a student in a cultural field, such as art history, archives, museum studies, etc.
  • Registered as a student in a post-secondary institution in any program or field of study
  • Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or persons with refugee protection given under the law
