E-Commerce Sales Assistant

Under the supervision of the Retail Operations Manager, the incumbent will assist in-store customers with a focus on updating and maintaining the ShopWAG online store. Responsible for all direct sales functions. Must be friendly, enthusiastic, and reliable retail professionals who love interacting with visitors and who are committed to delivering outstanding customer service.

Hours of work: 30 hours per week for 8 weeks


  • Welcome WAG patrons in a friendly and positive manner
  • Efficiently facilitate sales and transactions
  • Correctly answer inquires for information about the WAG’s exhibits, programming, and products
  • Process all transactions, track sales, and balance till at end of day
  • Ensure the physical shop locations are tidy at all times and supplies are well stocked
  • Assist with uploading information and images to online store
  • Process, pack, and ship online sales orders
  • Photograph products, edit photos, write and edit product descriptions, upload products to website
  • Assist in content development for ShopWAG Instagram account
  • Other duties as assigned


  • This position is funded in part by Canada Summer Jobs; please note eligible applicants must meet the following criteria:
    • (a) be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
    • (b) be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act*; and
    • (c) is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.
  • *International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent residents
  • Minimum 3-5 years of retail or service industry experience preferably in a visitor attraction, museum, gallery, hotel, or theatre environment; or combination of experience and education
  • Self-starter with proven ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and multi task as necessary
  • Ability to work in a team environment with little supervision
  • Approachable personality, and are confident in approaching visitors
  • Arts education background an asset
  • Willingness to learn new technologies if needed
