Designer (Term)

JOB SUMMARY

Receiving direction from the Head of Engagement & Advancement through the Manager of Engagement, the position is responsible for the scheduling, coordination and supervision of the design and production of WAG graphic requirements, which may include but not limited to: periodicals, exhibition catalogues, wall graphics, posters, brochures and promotional material.

Salary:
Part-time. 21.25 hours per week, $26.43/h

Anticipated Start Date:
January 2

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Liaise with staff requesting services to determine requirements, obtain quotes, and determine project costs for approval of originating department before proceeding.
  • Schedule & coordinate requests for design services in accordance with priorities, established with department head.
  • Design and produce WAG periodicals, exhibition catalogues, and promotional materials.
  • Forward assignments and projects to external designers while retaining design control.
  • Advise on exhibition design and installation as requested.
  • Maintain job cost system.
  • Assist with preparing operating budgets for Design Department and ensure adherence to approved budget.
  • Ongoing performance expectations relating to equity and anti-racism, including ongoing education, confrontation of personal biases, application of the anti-racism policy and equitable decision-making.
  • Other duties as assigned

ASSETS:

  • Must be able to work in an organized and independent manner.
  • Ability to calmly and efficiently accommodate multiple design requirements from various departments within tight deadlines.
  • Bilingualism French/English
  • Ability to speak or read an Indigenous language
