Designer (Part-time)
JOB SUMMARY
Receiving direction from the Head of Engagement & Advancement through the Manager of Engagement, this position is responsible for scheduling, coordinating, designing, and producing WAG-Qaumajuq’s exhibition graphic design projects. These projects include, but are not limited to, periodicals, exhibition catalogues, wall graphics, posters, brochures, and promotional materials. This position works on-site.

Starting at $26.43/h
Hours of Work:
Monday–Friday part-time, with Mondays off in the summer. 21.25–35 hours per week (some flexibility in start and end times).

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with artists and curators to design and produce WAG-Qaumajuq exhibition graphics, didactics, and catalogues.
- Design and oversee the production of promotional materials such as signage, banners, invitations, and posters for exhibitions and key exhibition-based events.
- Design directional signage and maps to guide visitors through the gallery spaces.
- Assist with preparing operating budgets for exhibitions, advising on exhibition design to ensure adherence to the approved budget.
- Maintain and develop the gallery’s visual identity, ensuring consistency across all visual materials.
- Design and create documentation for exhibition design standards at the gallery and its satellite locations.
- Create designs for gallery merchandise such as tote bags, T-shirts, and other items sold in the gallery shop.
- Work with external artists, designers, and vendors on collaborative projects and special exhibitions.
- Liaise with staff requesting services to determine requirements, obtain quotes, and determine project costs for the approval of the originating department before proceeding.
- Coordinate requests for design services in accordance with priorities established with the department head.
- Uphold ongoing performance expectations relating to equity and anti-racism, including ongoing education, confronting personal biases, applying the anti-racism policy, and making equitable decisions.
- Work in an organized and independent manner.
- Accommodate multiple design requirements from various departments efficiently and calmly within tight deadlines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
ASSETS:
- Bilingualism in French and English.
- Ability to speak or read an Indigenous language.
- Experience working in design for an art gallery or museum.
