Custodian / Janitorial

JOB SUMMARY

The Custodian under the direction of the Building Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for a variety of tasks related to maintaining, cleaning, and improving the Gallery spaces and equipment. They perform maintenance functions or identify and initiate services from authorized vendors. Preparing/maintaining premises for accepting visitors.

Reports to: Head of Museum Services & Building Operations through Building Maintenance Coordinator

Department: Museum Services & Building Operations

Classification: Class 1 Step 1

Start Date: ASAP

Rate of Pay: $15.80 – $19.62 per hour

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance services as scheduled and as required.
  • Make certain that tools and supplies are properly and safely cleaned and stored.
  • Assisting with facility set up for rental events (tables and chairs).
  • Provide best efforts to ensure a positive visitor experience for all facets.
  • Ongoing performance expectations relating to equity and anti-racism, including ongoing education, confrontation of personal biases, application of the anti-racism policy and equitable decision-making.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum one years’ experience in a maintenance role.
  • Able to lift up to 35 lbs unassisted.
  • Available some evenings and weekends and call-in for coverage of full-time staff
